8 Page 8 New Schedule 2019 - 2020 A Peek at the New Schedule for 2019 - 2020 This schedule has been developed after two and a half years of work involving staff, students, parents, and administrators. The priorities established after getting feedback from various stakeholders were as follows: Longer class periods for students and staff to engage in deeper learning and more meaningful feedback to * better align with our evolving assessment practices that have been developed through the target-based learning work. * Enhanced staff collaboration time to facilitate learning for all based on the examination of and collaboration around student growth criteria. *Remediation/enrichment time supports grading for learning structures and places a priority on all students meeting graduation requirements. *Flexibility to support innovative learning opportunities. Numerous schedules were explored and school visits were made to learn more about the pros and cons of various schedules. The approved schedule is an A/B schedule that keeps 7 class periods for our students but spreads them over two days. Class time moves from 52 minutes every day to 90 minutes every other day. The AACP Period (on “B” day) is new, and in its first year will have two specific focus areas: Time for Enrichment and Remediation and Advisory for all students to develop “Academic and Career Plans”. Specifics related to students as they begin to schedule for the 2019-2020 school year: *Students still need 22.5 credits for graduation *Students will be able to request up to 7 credits a year *Juniors and seniors will still have release *Seminar will remain a requirement for freshman 2020 2020 - 2019 NHS SCHEDULE NHS SCHEDULE 2019 - B “ ” DAY “A” DAY 10 minute passing, 90 minute classes 10 minute passing, 90 minute classes PERIOD TIME PERIOD TIME Office Hrs.
