1 Saving Files to Your P Drive -‐ When creating and downloading files, it is important that you save these documents to your -‐ P drive . A P -‐ drive is your own personal folder that can be accessed on any Wagner College based computer through your Novell account. A benefit of saving documents to your P -‐ drive is that if the computer malfunctions and you already saved important files to your P drive, you will always be -‐ able to access it on another computer. Note: It is important to not save documents to the desktop when working in the computer labs because once you restart the computer , the document is removed and disregarded.
2 Accessing your P -‐ Drive from your P -‐ There are two methods you can use to access the files drive. Option 1 On your desktop, select My Computer .
3 Once in the folder, you will notice a section labeled Network Drives . Under this My Computer section, locate where it says, \ Files \ Students' (P:). (If you Firstname_Lastname on 'Wagner_002 a re faculty, it will read \ Faculty instead of \ Students) This is your P -‐ Drive. Once you click into it, you will be able to view the documents in your P drive. -‐
4 Now that you have access to your -‐ drive , you can view, edit P and access files to your liking. ,
5 Option 2 . n icon labeled On the desktop, you should see a This is a shortcut created for Personal Drive (P) you that will take you to your P -‐ drive.
6 Once you are in your P -‐ drive you can view, edit and access files to your liking.
7 Saving Files -‐ Drive your P If you want to save a file to your P drive, such as a Word Document , click the Windows icon in the -‐ top left hand corner. From the drop down menu, click Save .
8 This will bring up a . In this column you will little grey box. Notice the column on the left hand side y Documents, My Computer, etc. S My Computer . Once in My see options such as M elect uter, you will see your P -‐ drive, which is labeled Firstname_Las tname on Comp re faculty, it will read 'Wagner_002 \ Students' (P:) . (If you a Files \ Faculty instead of \ Students) \ S elect your P -‐ driv e. Make sure that you give the file you are saving a name in the File name text box c lick Save . and then
9 Moving Files into your P Drive -‐ to your P (or in drive and accidentally saved it to your desktop If you forgot to save a document -‐ , another place you can always move the file into your P -‐ drive. ) In order to start the process of moving a file to your P -‐ drive, you must locat e the file on your computer ed file and drag it into your Personal Drive (P) located either from the . Click on the desir shortcut on your desktop or in My Computer .
10 T o view the file , Click on Personal Drive (P) . The file should have been moved successfully.
