1 TIPS & IDEAS LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH 2019 TIPS AND IDEAS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS IN MAY! , which is a great time to use your passion raise awareness and funds May is Lupus Awareness Month in your community to support people living with lupus. Whether you are someone who loves staying active, laughing with friends while playing games, or sharing delicious treats with friends, here are a few ideas to get you started! LOVE WORKING OUT? TURN YOUR PASSION INTO A FUNDRAISER! Select an exercise activity and turn it into a fundraiser for lupus. • Ask your gym to schedule a special indoor cycling class. Participants can track their mileage and request a donation per mile cycled, or set an entry fee/donation for others to ride with you. Practice kickboxing, cross-training and more with a day of working out! Set an entry fee/donation • per class, whether it is a 60-minute barre class or a night club cardio session. Ask others to participate with you or make a donation per calorie burned! LOVE SPORTS? HAVE FUN WHILE FUNDRAISING! Choose another sport you’re passionate about — and turn it into a fundraiser for lupus. • Plan a Bowling Fundraiser - Bowling is a fun way for all ages to help support those living with lupus. Secure a bowling venue and set an entry fee/donation for each game played. - Golf games are exciting for all ages, and a tournament is ideal for • Plan a Golf Fundraiser competitive golfers. Mini-golf and driving ranges are also excellent options. Contact a local course and explain your needs, number of participants and when you would like to hold your event. Charge a donation or fundraising minimum for entry. LOVE A GOOD CARD GAME? LET YOUR INNER CARD SHARK OUT! Card games can be fun for all ages and all you need are good friends, cards and snacks! You can set an entry fee/donation per game played. LOVE THE LAUGHS DURING A BOARD GAME NIGHT? BRING FRIENDS TOGETHER FOR A FUN TIME! Go old school and ditch the controllers and keyboards to raise money for your cause. Put together a board game fundraising event that’s friendly for all ages, complete with an assortment of options. Charge for entry and host mini-tournaments among different sets of players and advertise prizes for the winners.

2 TIPS & IDEAS LOVE COOKOUTS? BRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TOGETHER FOR FOOD, FUN AND FUNDRAISING! You can have a cookout in a backyard, campgrounds or a public park. Plan food and beverages based on the number of people attending and provide cutlery, cups and plates. Set an entry fee/ donation or fundraising minimum to attend. Make plans for inclement weather and if hosting at a venue other than a private home, find out what sort of grilling is allowed and what time the locale opens and closes. LOVE EATING GOOD FOOD? YOU ARE NOT ALONE Partner with restaurants in your area to raise funds. Many restaurants will agree to donate a percentage of total sales on your designated fundraising day as long as customers mention they are shopping for your cause. LOVE BAKING SWEETS? PUT ON A BAKESALE! People with a sweet tooth will always appreciate the opportunity to savor something sweet. Do you have a recipe all your friends love? Whip up a batch and offer them for sale in your workplace, favorite community gathering place or child’s school.
